I feel like I
have discussed this task thousand times but anyway for me it is a great true
story of a young lady rather than an awesome play. It is a story of a human determination
to change the world, and yes communication meant the world to Helen Keller.
At the beginning
of the book Annie’s teacher, Anagnos, described Helen as “a little save, locked,
that no one can open but perhaps there is a treasure inside” (18) and he was
right. Helen was full of ideas and thoughts but she could not express them.
Before Annie’s
arrivals Helen was behaving really nasty and because of that Annie called her a devil. (31) On the other hand Helen was
extraordinary smart and foxy despite her handicap.
Another obstacle
in learning was surprisingly her mother who “kept her-like a pet” and was pity
for her. Her mother loved her so much that she let her do everything she
wanted. (75). I agree that her mother was too caring. She should be stronger.
In the isolation
Annie spells Helen some things that she likes for example D, o, l, l or C, a,
k, e she repeats it but she is unable to understand that she can communicate
through those signs.
At the end Helen
is coming back home, suddenly, everything she has learned she somehow forgot.
She started to behave badly again. Annie sees it and she is really mad and angry.
She grabs her and drags her to the water pump where Helen finally understands
that water is this special liquid coming from the pump.
